The TV District
The Moapa Valley TV Maintenance District (MVTVD) was established for the rebroadcast of television signals thru out the Moapa area. Its service boundaries include Moapa, Warm Springs, Glendale, Logandale, Overton, and Overton Beach.
At midnight on June 12, 2009, all full-power primary television stations in the United States will stop broadcasting in analog and switch to 100% digital broadcasting. Because MVTVD is not a primary broadcaster but rather a secondary broadcaster, the district is NOT required to change over to digital broadcasting yet. However the FCC has notified the district to begin the conversion. At a date to be determined, the FCC will require the district to be broadcasting solely in digital.
What this means to you
Right now MVTVD has converted 6 of our 10 broadcast licenses. You will need a TV Converter box to receive the digital signal. Later, when funds are made available, MVTVD will complete the digital build out of our broadcast licenses. When that time comes, the residences of the valley will either need a Digital TV or a Digital TV Converter box for their analog TV.
